As seen on Channel 2 News - “It’s all about the people.
(The program) opens up your mind so you can learn a lot about
yourself and understand different people better.”

Our Facility

Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center welcomes all members of the community, borough and city into a spacious 15,000 square
foot facility of high ceilings, shiny wood floors, and sunlight slanting through its many huge oak windows.

Originally constructed in 1906 as a Municipal Building for
the Olde Village of Williamsbridge, the three-story building
later served as an annex to local public schools and then for
decades as a local Yeshiva, prior to shifts in neighborhood
demographics. With its growing popularity, annual waiting lists, and virtually no money in the bank at the time, a small committed corps of folks succeeded in having Mind-Builders purchase the building in 1984.

After 2 1/2 years of fundraising and $850,000 of renovation (to the first floor, second floor, and mezzanine construction) all programs moved into the current facility in the Fall of 1987.

Bronx Borough President Carrion, Jr. recently awarded a $1,000,000 capital allocation to Mind-Builders to be administered through the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs exclusively for the continued beautification and reconstruction of Mind-Builders’ facility to include the installation of an elevator for full accessibility; a new heating/ ventilation and air conditioning system; outdoor landscaping; further upgrading of the lobby area; soundproof music studios, locker rooms, and a café in the cellar; as well as convertible classroom and theater space on the now-unused third floor.
