Stage Band/Music Merit Scholarship Auditions (Ages 8+)

  • Time: 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM (25-minute slots)
  • Location: Room 203
  • Capacity: Auditions required (Must RSVP)

Our Music Department will be holding auditions for:

  • The Mind-Builders Stage Band- Open to students interested in joining our 20+ member Stage Band, which focuses on live performances and comprehensive musical training. This year's auditions are specifically for brass (trumpet, trombone, euphonium), woodwind (saxophones, clarinet, flute), and drum players.
     
  • Music Merit Scholarship - Available to students who play any instrument and are seeking registration waivers, tuition discounts, and additional performance opportunities through our merit program. 

Students can audition for both opportunities during the same audition slot. Each audition will be evaluated separately. 

Audition Requirements: Students must have prior experience in music instruction with comprehension in harmony, basic knowledge of music theory, ability to sight read and perform at least one song on their selected instrument. RSVP required to secure an audition slot.

 

Keyboard Demo (Ages 5-10)

  • Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM (Two 30-minute sessions)
  • Location: Band Room 
  • Capacity: 8 students at a time

This 30-minute workshop offers a glimpse into Mind-Builders' Keyboard program, (available as both private and group lessons). Open to various experience levels, it's an excellent way for your child to explore their interest in music.
*1 Parent per child/student is welcome to observe. 

 

Brass & Woodwinds Demo (Ages 10+)

  • Time: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM 
  • Location: Room 107
  • Capacity: 15 students (students will take turns, but can sit in throughout)

This workshop introduces students to the musicality of brass and woodwind instruments. Through demonstrations and interactive sessions, students will explore key concepts related to instruments such as trombone, trumpet, euphonium, tuba, French horn, flute, oboe, saxophone, and clarinet. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn what private lessons during our Fall/Spring semester have to offer. No previous experience is required.
*Students are encouraged to bring their own instruments. 1 Parent per child/student is welcome to observe.

 

Piano & Vocals Demo (Ages 10-18)

  • Time: Wednesday, 5:15 PM - 6:15 PM (Two 30-minute sessions)
  • Location: Band Room
  • Capacity: 8 students at a time

This 30-minute workshop offers an introduction to key vocal techniques and piano playing skills, perfect for those interested in singing harmony, tuning pitch, or exploring piano. It also provides insight into Mind-Builders' new Vocal Ensemble class and private piano lessons.
*1 Parent per child/student is welcome to observe.

 

Guitar & Bass Demo (Ages 8-16)

  • Time: Wednesday, 5:15 PM - 6:15 PM (Two 30-minute sessions)
  • Location: Room 304
  • Capacity: 10 students per session

This 30-minute workshop introduces students to guitar and bass instruments, showcasing the techniques taught in our Guitar/Bass classes. (Both private and group instruction are available as part of our fall music program.) 
*Students are encouraged to bring their own instruments. 1 Parent per child/student is welcome to observe.

 

Jazz Night (Open Rehearsal & Interactive Demo)

  • Time: Wednesday, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Location: Room 201

Join us for a special Jazz Night to kick off Mind-Builders' Fall/Spring semester! This unique event features our talented Music Faculty performing alongside our award-winning Stage Band. Part performance, part open rehearsal, and part sample class, this evening offers a deep dive into our dynamic Stage Band program and the various components of our Music Department. Meet the faculty, enjoy the music, and even join in during interactive moments throughout the night.
